The Patrol Division is the backbone of any police agency and the Police Officers who patrol this City are many times, the first point of contact between our Citizens and those in need of assistance. The Berwyn Police Department’s Patrol Division takes pride in being able to serve and protect the public as first responders. The unit focuses on reducing and preventing crime in a daily effort to keep Berwyn safe. The patrol division of the police department serves the community through daily patrol, traffic enforcement, response to 911 calls and attendance at meetings, neighborhood watch groups, school functions, block parties and city sponsored events. Patrol is an all-encompassing division of highly trained officers and supervisory staff that work as a team to combat crime and maintain peace and order. The Berwyn Patrol Division is comprised of:
- Traffic Unit – Accident Reconstruction Technicians are specially trained to study how and why an accident occurred
- Evidence Technicians- document, collect and preserve evidence from a crime for further analysis
- K-9 unit- police service dogs aid in locating offenders of crimes, lost or missing persons, evidence of crimes, and narcotics detection
- Crisis Intervention Team (CIT)- officers who have been specially trained to assist those in crisis or who have special needs.
