BERWYN POLICE DEPARTMENT CELEBRATES FOUR-YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THERAPY DOG, PAWFFICER ROMEO

The Berwyn Police Department is proud to celebrate the 4-year anniversary of one of its most beloved team members, Pawfficer Romeo, the department’s dedicated therapy dog, whose compassion, charm, and calming presence have made an immeasurable impact on the Berwyn community.

Originally rescued and adopted into service, Romeo is now a 6-year-old mix of Pitbull, German Shepherd, and Labrador Retriever. What makes him truly special, however, isn’t just his unique blend of breeds; it’s his exceptional training and natural ability to provide comfort and affection. Romeo offers emotional support to children in schools and hospitals, victims of crime or disaster, and he brings the same comfort to Berwyn Police Department employees who benefit greatly from his presence.

Beyond his professional skills, Romeo is full of personality. He loves watching squirrels and rabbits, never turns down a belly rub, and enjoys frequent visits to the dog park where he reunites with his furry friends. As a popular pup with purpose, Pawfficer Romeo keeps a full schedule year-round. His calendar is often booked with community event appearances, hospital visits, school presentations, senior outreach, and neighborhood block parties throughout the summer.

Romeo has also become a familiar face in Berwyn through his lively social media presence, where he stays connected to residents and showcases his adventures as a community ambassador. His friendly demeanor and gentle spirit have helped him make countless friends, young and old.

Internally, Pawfficer Romeo has served as a vital source of comfort for officers and support staff. For members of the public, he has been a calming companion during some of their most difficult moments. His unwavering dedication has made him a tremendous asset to the department and the community alike.

“Pawfficer Romeo is pawsitively devoted to Berwyn,” said the Berwyn Police Department. “We are incredibly grateful for the compassion, joy, and healing he brings to our community every day. Today, we honor and celebrate all of the pawsitive influence he has brought to Berwyn over these past four years.”

The Berwyn Police Department looks forward to many more years with Pawfficer Romeo serving as a symbol of comfort, connection, and community care.
